Achedaway Pro Massage Gun Review

Achedaway Pro Massage Gun – Strong and Complete Set Worthy of the ‘Pro’ Name

A massage gun… is such a device a gimmick? Does it really work? I considered myself the perfect guinea pig to try it out. After a major back surgery at the age of 15 and two car accidents, I frequently experience back pain. I wanted to find out which features in a massage gun really matter and how well the Achedaway Pro performs.

So, what exactly is important and what should you look for?

First things first: what objectively makes a massage gun good? How do they differ from one another? After some online research, I discovered that there are 3 key factors to consider when making a purchase: depth, power, and speed. More depth and power generally mean better performance. Having different speed settings is also nice, as it allows you to adjust the intensity according to your preference.

I have to mention though, a gun with less power and depth isn’t necessarily worse. It depends on your needs. A device with less power is preferable if you want a gentle or relaxing massage. However, for those who want to reach deep into their muscles and work out knots, a massage gun with some muscle is beneficial.

In the box and specifications

Alright, bring on that muscle-packed massage gun then! Upon opening the box, I was immediately pleasantly surprised. The gun and all its components are neatly packed in a sleek case that you can easily carry around. Besides the massage gun itself, you also get 4 attachments, a charger, and an extra battery. The latter is very convenient, with a charged battery on hand you’ll never run out of juice. Let’s quickly go through the attachments:

  1. Soft head attachment for areas where you would typically use your thumb.
  2. Flathead aluminum attachment for any part of the body.
  3. Bullet-shaped attachment for deeper tissues and trigger points.
  4. Forkhead attachment for the neck and spine.

The Achedaway Pro has a 16mm amplitude (that’s how deep it goes) and a power of over 35 kilograms. That makes it genuinely strong. Most massage guns in this price range can’t boast these numbers. The device has 5 different speed settings, although I rarely go beyond level 3. Levels 4 and 5 are seriously… intense!

User experience – Does it really work?

“Well, here we go!”. Upon first use, it becomes evident that the Achedaway Pro is by no means a toy. This device packs some serious power. It feels quite nice to hold, although sometimes I struggle to find the most comfortable grip when working on the lower part of my back. Especially during longer massage sessions, your hand can get tired from holding the sturdy gun. After all, you need to control a powerful device. If someone can assist you (and knows where to massage), it’s less of an issue.

I must say, the effect on my back pain is truly astonishing. My personal favorite is the ball-shaped attachment. It does an excellent job of working out the most troublesome knots in my muscles. I never expected to benefit so much from spending just 10 minutes a few times a week with a massage gun.

You can easily adjust the speed by pressing the power button again. This allows you to cycle through the 5 speed settings step by step. To turn off the gun immediately, hold the button for a few seconds. It might seem challenging at first because the gun vibrates quite a bit, but I’ manage to succesfully it off first try, pretty much everytime.

Design and build quality

The Achedaway Pro is incredibly sturdy and well-built. This device undoubtedly has a long lifespan. It truly lives up to the ‘Pro’ name in this regard. If a physiotherapist had this gun in their practice, I wouldn’t be surprised.

In terms of design, the Achedaway Pro does fall a bit short. The case looks nice, but the gun itself could have had a more stylish design. For a physiotherapist, it’s less important, but as a consumer, it could be smooother. The brand Theragun demonstrates what’s possible in terms of design, although you usually pay double the price for it.

Price and conclusion

At €250, the Achedaway Pro is very reasonably priced. For this amount, you get a serious massage gun that truly impresses with its specifications and build quality. The slight grip issue and the somewhat lackluster design can easily be forgiven at this price. Especially when you consider that the equivalent from “that other competitor” would cost you twice as much.

I highly recommend the Achedaway Pro to anyone with back pain or other muscle issues. Not as a toy or a relaxation device, but as a serious tool to reduce your symptoms. It doesn’t directly replace a physiotherapist, but I have actually been able to skip many massage appointments. Now I can take care of it myself! The Achedaway Pro truly deserves the title of ‘Pro’.
